1.1 This testing procedure pertains to the determination of glass transition temperatures (Tg) of materials through the use of differential scanning calorimetry.

1.2 This method is suitable for amorphous materials, including thermosets and semi-crystalline substances with amorphous regions, provided they are stable and do not experience decomposition or sublimation within the glass transition range.

1.3 The standard operating temperature range for this method is from –120 to 500°C, although this range may be extended based on the specific instrumentation employed.

1.4 Instruments and techniques that are computer or electronic-based, as well as data processing methods equivalent to this test procedure, may also be utilized.

Note 1: Users of this testing method are strongly cautioned that not all such instruments or techniques may offer equivalent results. It is the user’s responsibility to ensure the required equivalency before proceeding with the test.

1.5 ISO 11357–2 is considered equivalent to this testing procedure.
