ASTM F2819-24 pdf download,Standard Test Methods for Measurement of Straightness of Bar, Rod, Tubing, and Wire to be Used for Medical Devices.

1.1 This standard ASTM F2819 outlines various testing methods for assessing the straightness of bars, rods, tubing, and wires. These methods are mainly intended for bars, rods, tubing, and wires that have been specifically ordered in a straightened and cut-to-length format. They are also applicable to small diameter tubing and wire that have been specially treated to unwind from a spool in a straightened form.

1.2 These testing methods are relevant for measuring the straightness of round wire with diameters ranging from 0.05 to 4.78 mm (0.002 to 0.188 in.). They also apply to the flatness (camber) of flat-shaped wire or ribbon with maximum dimensions within the same range of 0.05 to 4.78 mm (0.002 to 0.188 in.). For details on measuring flatness (camber), please refer to Test Method F2754/F2754M.

Note 1: The latest version of Test Method F2754/F2754M addresses a different range of diameters (0.0127 to 4.78 mm (0.0005 to 0.188 in.)) and does not include superelastic NiTi materials. These exceptions do not influence the camber measurements conducted according to Test Method F2754/F2754M.

1.3 These testing methods are applicable to the straightness of round tubing with an outer diameter between 0.05 and 6.35 mm (0.002 to 0.25 in.).

1.4 These testing methods also pertain to the straightness of round rods with diameters between 4.78 and 6.35 mm (0.188 to 0.25 in.). Additionally, they apply to the flatness (camber) of both flat and shaped rods with maximum dimensions in the range of 4.78 to 6.35 mm (0.188 to 0.25 in.). For the measurement of flatness (camber), consult Test Method F2754/F2754M.

Note 2: The current version of Test Method F2754/F2754M deals with a different diameter range (0.0127 to 4.78 mm (0.0005 to 0.188 in.)) and does not cover superelastic NiTi. These exceptions will not impact the camber measurements performed as per Test Method F2754/F2754M.
